SaEman Space Agency Mission Logs

Overview on this new series:

It has been a long time since I played KSP (I went off my computer since 1.0 was released

:(, but I have returned now...). My previous campaign was going well tbh SaEman Space Agency's space program, except for the fact that it was ruined by the 1.0 release :D

So I will try to reboot the series, the previous one has started with an imaginary accident and a full agency rebuild and new program, this one will be a little bit different, as the previous program went out of control due to massive investment and (again) ignoring the safeties... which resulted in a sad accident for the original 3 and got all the engineers to quit.

From the feedback I got on the previous one, I will be using the same format for main thread, and missions/press releases formats, it proved easy for me and enjoyable as well when I write them, as well as the good feedback I got on them, so I'll keep that.

There will be some models and designs shows for sure, and I intend to put a brief description about the rocket/plane/etc... and I will also put a link to the .craft file, as I would like to share the models and designs I make during this series and get your feedback about them.

RL Updates

From Aug/1 until now, I am out of the city and working on a project, I might return in few days or until the end of this week.

SaEman Space Agency reformed!

We have been in a long "mandatory" vacation form our superiors... our last group of missions was a major success, only to get hit by a management that knows nothing about managing space programs... that management took risks and nu-necessary gambles during the previous months, which resulted in systems getting out of control, major opposition among our faithful crew, engineers and scientists... the most painful one was the leave of the original 3 (Jeb, Bob, and Bill)... only to be followed shortly by all who was remaining of the crew and program administrators.

This situation, led to a direct and strong intervention from our donors and the head of board of directors who was in direct contact with every single official in our government... the result was, we were shut down, stripped off of all our authorities and ranks, awaiting a detailed painful investigation of what was happening...

Luckily, we were not held responsible for anything except for our CEO and CFO... who are now rotting in a 1x1 cell... we asked broadly to return us to the agency and to allow us to rebuild and reform the agency again...

Latest activity: 3/Aug/2015 - Valentina rescue, success (report)

Current mission: Wanderer I - 3/Aug/2015 - SOI capture, although fuel might be an issue to perform the landing.

Press Con. #1 - 10/July/2015

Announcement: New board of directors, management and strategic plan formed

SaEman new CEO: The past months were hard on all of us... being shutdown and not doing anything was something we never imagined it could happen... but it did.

We all need to learn from the mistakes of the previous time, and we all need to over come those mistakes and that period of frustration as it was full of mistakes and mess.

This reformation will be a new start for all of us, I am very glad to announce that we have finally reached a deal with Jebediah Kerman, Bill Kerman and Bob Kerman... they are all coming back to us... we also spoke to Cpt. Valentina Kerman who was part of the previous training crew to join our core team.

This is exciting news for all of us... I promise you that we will never forget the past, and we will never stop learning from it...

Regarding the old instruments and hardware that was abandoned along with its crew by the previous fallen management, we will be focusing our efforts to recover the crew stranded in space as out first priority, then we will try to recover whatever hardware we can find along... right now we are trying to figure out some way to decrypt the communication signals that are being transmitted and received by the old antennas in the tracking station... which is the only link between us and the people up there in the old orbital structure.

We will start our first steps by testing and reassessing our current remaining hardware and equipment that was left since the shutdown, and while we get more funding, we will acquire new hardware and equipment.

We will keep you updated with any thing new that comes on this.

Press Con. #2 - 10/July/2015

Status report on the facilities in the space operations center

SaEman CEO: The shutdown period of the space center has led to major functionality issues in all of its facilities, because the shutdown order came in surprisingly, no precautions or preparations were taken to prepare the buildings and the equipment for a long time of inactivity...

As a result, the runway was completely damaged, rendering it unusable for any kind of planes, and the launch pad has suffered major issues in its structure, making it only usable for light small rockets for the time being...

The VAB has suffered issues in its doors as one of the 2 huge rolling doors fell out of its place, the second one is stuck in its place... as a result we cannot move out or in any 2.5 meters vessels.

The SPH has also suffered damages in the roof, making it very dangerous to build large planes in it for the time being, though using it for short and small planes is still possible.

Due to the fact that the tracking station still has some connectivity with the old orbital structure, we are unable to utilize it 100%, so we doing restructure works while keeping at least one communication dish online.

Other facilities has suffered structural damages and it is not safe to stay in them for a long time.

With this status for the center, we have put a budget to restore the facilities to 100% operational status, starting from the VAB and launch pad, which are now in a better condition, we will keep working and repairing the center according to our plan.

Bruno I launch

Date and time: 10/July/2015

Participants: Jebediah Kerman (pilot)

Objectives: Flyby the Mun, and activate 3 scientific equipments and record the observation notes

Status: Success, with some minor issues on reentry

Cost: 21,427$

Duration: 3d, 0h, 41m, 37s

Mission report:

Having slowly getting back our strength, we decided to put what we have to a test, so we asked Jeb if he is willing to take a risk and perform a Mun flyby... we prepared the vessel which was not the best we could make, but it was working anyway...

The launch and transfer burn from Kerbin to Mun SOI were all good and perfect, once Jeb got into Mun SOI, he activated the 3 science instruments he has on the vessel and recorded his observation. Then he started the burn to get back home.

However upon reentry, 2 of the 3 scientific equipment got critically overheated and we lost all the data on them. luckily, no injuries or malfunctions were recorded for both Jeb and the vessel.

Due to this issue on reentry, we will schedule another mission to get the missing data again.

Status: Success, no problems recorded on reentry

Cost: 28,185$

Duration: 3d, 0h, 27m, 37s

Mission report:

After the partial success of the last Bruno mission, we still need the lost scientific results, so we prepared a new rocket, this time it will be remote controlled and no pilot will be on this mission, instead, Dr. Bob Kerman will be on board, to observe and make sure that all the scientific data we want is process safely and correctly in space before getting back home.

The mission was smooth and no incidents were recorded at all during all stages of the mission, and the required data is finally brought back to Kerbin.

Objectives: Flyby Minmus, and activate 2 scientific equipments and record the observation notes

Status: Success, no problems recorded on reentry

Cost: 28,185$

Duration: 13d, 0h, 33m, 05s

Mission report:

Looking to get a basic idea about the second moon of Kerbin, we prepared a new mission with a simple task to flyby, and observe the scientific equipment we put on board, Cpt. Eiltrid was selected for this mission, as she has proven very capable in handling delicate equipment.

Take off and getting into intercept trajectory with Minmus was fine and smooth, while in the 10 days journey to Minmus SOI, Eiltrid ensured that all her equipment and trip plans are in perfect shape, and once in Minmus SOI, she started the procedures to activate the 2 goo containers we put on board, then she reported a possible landing site on Minmus for future probes and manned missions.

The return journey was smooth as well, though she had to make 2 full orbits around Kerbin before she finally slow down in the atmosphere, no overheating or failures were reported.

BREAKING - 14/July/2015

Distress signal was received from LKO, 2 stranded crew members were rescued from space

During early morning of 14th of July, our communication dishes (or what's left of them) in the tracking station, have picked up an emergency transponder signal from low Kerbin orbit, further investigation led us to find out that the signal is coming from a vessel belonging to crew members: Genebree, and Julra Kerman, who were all abroad a mission to investigate an area near the south pole of Kerbin, until we lost all communications with them.

Because we were expecting to find our lost crew, we already have a rocket assembled and on standby for any sudden findings like this, the two Kerbals were rescued quick and landed back safe on Kerbin.

After debriefing, we knew that an order has came to the crew to shutdown all their radio communications and wait further instructions which they never come due to that the order was simply an attempted sabotage from the failed previous management...

No further information known yet about the rest of the crew who were in missions in space, or the status of the other orbital structure, but we will keep looking hoping to find everyone.

After some resting, the rescued Kerbals will join our program in the following positions:

Julra Kerman: Engineering department

Genebree Kerman: Engineering department

Bruno IV

Date and time: 15/July/2015

Participants: Bob Kerman (scientist)

Objectives: Establish an orbit around Minmus and study the response and performance of several scientific equipment

Status: Success, no problems recorded on reentry

Cost: 52,108$

Duration: 21d, 0h, 56m, 00s

Mission report:

The data we got form Minmus was very helpful, and we got a lot of knowledge from them about the small blue moon, however, our scientists have got some theories about the nature of the blue color and the composition of the surface... so we have assembled our team and talked about another mission to there.

Dr. Bob Kerman was very excited about the new mission and he pledged to be on it this time... so we launched the rocket, with a smooth ascending and burn in orbit, he was on course to the moon, and it took him about 9 days to get to Minmus SOI.

Once in the gravity field of Minmus, his vessel's computer started executing the burn to establish an orbit, as soon as the orbit established, Bob was to sit and wait for a half orbit around the small moon, before he activate his long range radio antenna and start his observations and scientific tests.

Upon the return journey, the vessel had to perform a slow descend and landing, due to the high speed it was coming to the atmosphere, we decided that it is safer for everyone of us to set the PE around 40km above Kerbin's ocean level, so we have to wait for 2 orbits for it in order to slow down enough and land safely.

Date and time: 15/July/2015

Participants: Bob Kerman (scientist)

Objectives: Perform scientific experiments on the surface of Minmus, survey a possible permanent landing site, and bring back a surface sample

Status: Success, no problems recorded on reentry

Cost: 61,971$

Duration: 22d, 1h, 12m, 13s

Mission report:

Having grew more interest in knowing what is exactly Minmus, we have sent back Bob on a new mission, this time he will land on the surface and do EVA tasks including taking a surface sample, measure the pressure and temperature around, then he will use the scientific equipment we put on the vessel to perform their test to conclude the main part of the mission.

We also asked Bob to survey the site he will land in it for possible use as a permanent landing site for all Minmus mission...

On the taking off from Minmus and burning to intercept Kerbin again, we have a very unique chance to get a Mun colliding trajectory, however the lack of extra scientific equipment and the fact this came as a surprising chance, got us to continue the normal mission schedule and complete the maneuver burn to end up in Kerbin atmoshpere... however, we will consider doing this mission again to experience what might happen in an insta-transfer from Minmus to Mun.

Mission report:

After the successful two missions to Minmus, we have decided we are ready for a manned Mun mission that will land actually... we sent Cpt. Eiltrid Kerman on this mission as her flying skills are perfect for this new type of missions.

Lift off was easy and smooth, once in orbit, she started the burn to end up in Mun's gravity field, while the on-board computer took controls to establish a low orbit, she started a health check on all the equipment on her vessel, finally once all the checks are done, she started the descend and finally landed.

The surface activities took few hours, before she get back to the vessel and prepare for the return journey.

Announcement: Our air planes division introduces our first supersonic-capable airplane

SaEman new CEO: I am glad to announce that our air planes research and development division was successful at building and testing our first supersonic capable air plane... they named it "Phoenix-Premative IV", as the materials and technology they used is somewhat easy to get and known for almost all the industry...

It is however our team's creative members who managed to put these technologies into a good use which resulted this magnificent piece of engineering...

This plane is capable of reaching very high altitudes (some times can get to more than 50,000m high if done right), and can reach very high speed, sometimes goes above 1,000m/s... in addition, it can land almost anywhere thanks to its supporting rear chutes which will help it stop very quick in any emergency landing or any normal landing even...

We will put this plane to a good use by using it to perform studies for Kerbin atmosphere and its higher level parts... it is already equipped with an atmospheric scanning and analysis device, plus a thermometer and a pressure measuring device, and in case we wanted to perform a surface experiment, we already included a seismic activity monitoring device...

Here are some photos of the plane, and its blueprints:

Announcement: Our engineering team has finished assembling our first DSN prototype, deployment to be set

SaEman new CEO: Due to improving technology, and the closing Duna transfer window day, we have started to work on our DSN relays project, this is going to be a critical backbone of any operation we will do from now on...

Each node will house a team of 7 Kerbals, and will have 2 medium-to-long range antennas, with 2 short range antennas as well, and few onmi antennas...

Of course, this is a prototype, so the antennas and the node configuration is subject to change, but due to the urgent need of at least two nodes deployed, we will be forced to start deploying these nodes as soon as we can.

We have these 2 photos for you, one for the DSN attached to its deployment mechanism (which is a 4-jet-engines air plane), and the other one right after its landing and fully deployment.

Date and time: 26/July/2015

Participants: Catnica Kerman (scientist), Bill Kerman (engineer)

Objectives: Land on the designated location, perform scientific experiments and collect surface sample, record observations and notes, then start the return back journey.

Status: Success, no problems recorded on reentry

Cost: 130,564$

Duration: 27d, 2h, 21m, 27s

Mission report:

After days of the last mission to Minmus, our scientists needed more information about the formation of the small moon, and we needed to get extra data we have not been able to get before due to technical issues, so our engineers started planning for a mission that will take Catnica Kerman - our very skilled scientists -, and Eng. Bill Kerman to the surface of a new location our scientists and engineers have picked for this mission...

Because the vessel was provided with a remote controllable probe core, the need for a pilot was not much urgent on this mission, so we decided to put Bill on instead to overcome any technical issues in the vessel during the mission.

The take off and orbit burn went smooth, and the trajectory to Minmus was set to be captured by its SOI, then once the 2 Kerbals are there, they will start initiating their landing burn.

They completed 2 orbits around Minmus until they got to a good descending point above the designated zone... however, a glitch in the computer of the vessel led to an excessive burn which resulted in them going off the landing area... however, Bill's little experience in flying spaceships helped in getting the vessel back on the correct course.

Once they landed, Catnica started her work, and she got the surface sample, and did all the required researches, while Bill was checking the exterior of the vessel and planting a flag to mark the date/time and the crew members of this mission.

The return journey was stable, though they had to make 2 orbits around Kerbin to slowdown enough to make the landing, no unusual or critical failures were reported through out all the journey.

The first short/medium range satellite made it to orbit

With the hard preparations that are going on ahead of the D-Day for our first Duna launch in the Galileo campaign, we have just put a short/medium range satellite in orbit, that will be capable of reaching Duna and Moho (or so we hope...), we will work next on satellites to be deployed in the orbit of Mun and Minmus as well in order to achieve the most connectivity we can to the space center ahead of the mission day.

The satellite is equipped with 2 short range antennas for Kerbin-Mun-Minmus communications, as well as 2 medium range antennas that are capable of reaching Moho and Duna...

The results and performance analysis will be checked and assessed in the incoming few days to prepare for any unexpected failures in communications or the need to change the design while we have the chance to... The satellite is currently in a low orbit around Kerbin, at 120km, and 119km for AP, PE altitudes.

Below is the photo for the satellite right after it got into orbit.

Kerbin Research Station (KRS) core has made it to LKO

Yesterday, we have finished assembling the core for our first and supposedly the largest station that will be orbiting Kerbin... it will be mainly used for research projects and scientific missions in the internal Kerbin system...

And today, we successfully managed to put the core into a stable LKO, with only Jebediah kerman on board now to maintain its stability in orbit while we assemble the remaining crew and station modules.

This comes as a one more steop towards establishing back our orbital infrastructure after the 2 disasters we had in the previous weeks, and to start looking beyond the Kerbin system towards other planets such as Eve, Moho and Duna for this stage.

Date and time: 30/July/2015

Participants: Valentina Kerman (pilot), Bill Kerman (engineer), Bob Kerman (scientist)

Objectives: Land on the south pole of Minmus, and perform scientific expirements.

Status: Success, no problems recorded on reentry

Cost: 201,906$

Duration: 29d, 5h, 12m, 31s

Mission report:

Preparing for our Galileo program, which we will explore Duna and its moon Ike, we needed to conclude our major scientific researches on Kerbin's moons... this does not mean we abandon them, on the complete opposite, after we have surveyed the 2 moons well enough, we can move to the next phase in our plan, which involves permanent outposts on both bodies and sending rovers and landers on them... the object for this mission was to prepare for landers expeditions on Minmus and the ability to control such machines in its weak gravity environment...

The 3 Kerbal crew members are to land on the south pole of Minmus, Bob will activate their scientific equipment, while Bill will observe the gravity environment to record his notes and prepare his theories and calculations for the rover design we will need to send there...

The mission went smooth, specially with the note that we have tested a new crew capsule model on the vessel, with 2 nuke engines to do all the propulsion work in space, it was remarkably perfect mission...

The 3 Kerbals took about one month away from home to complete their mission, and they are now taking a well deserved rest after they landed safely on Kerbin.

Mission rating: 10/10

Science results: 1,329 points

Mission media: we cannot offer any photo releases for now!.

Press Con. #8 - 31/July/2015

Countdown for Galileo program started

SaEman CEO: Few days separate us from our first historical mission launch to Duna!... we will start the Galileo program to study Duna and its moon Ike... the quality and amount of scientific information and materials is very great and will allow us to understand our solar system in a way we did not imagine before!.

We are now preparing and assembling the rover that will be sent there, as we cannot risk a manned mission to a place we have never been to before, we decided to put a rover, then according to its data during the mission, we will decide on sending a manned mission.

We will keep you updated with the latest news about this historical event!

BREAKING - 31/July/2015

Multiple distress signals were received from LKO, 5 kerbals were rescued!

We have just received multiple distress signals at the same time, they seem to be originated from low-Kerbin-orbit... while Jebediah is in the KRS, we have asked him to work with us on identifying the signals, their estimated locations and the exact count...

Further investigations done by Jeb, revealed that the signals are 5 signals and coming from multiple vessels in low orbit... unfortunately for us, the station is not equipped with propulsion systems yet, so we cannot use it to get to the stranded crew quick...

Eiltrid volunteered to go up and save those guys, but this means 5 trips, as our rescue vessel is only equipped with facilities to hold 2 Kerbals only, and while we don't have an all time connected network to the mission control, we cannot risk sending an empty remote controlled rescue vessel...

UPDATE #1: Henbo Kerman was rescued from LKO, Eiltrid on her way back with a new mission for the remaining crew.

UPDATE #2: Leeny has successfully landed back with Eiltrid near KSC, both are safe and sound, while Eiltrid is heading back to the VAB, Leeny is in the medical complex for diagnostics.

UPDATE #3: Ascia Kerman was successfully located and rescued by our hero Eiltrid Kerman.

UPDATE #4: Doodbree was recovered along with Eiltrid Kerman from their landing site, Doodbree is now in the medical complex, while Eiltrid is preparing for the last and final launch!

UPDATE #5: Eiltrid has landed finally along with Derby Kerman, they both have been taken to the medical complex for health checks and rest.

UPDATE #6: upon debriefing for the 5 Kerbals, it turned out that they were onboard of KSS-I (Kerbin Space Station I, which is the main orbital station around Kerbin) they all indicated a structure failure on the station due to an object collided with one of the 2 large fuel tanks on it.

Not much details were provided by any of them due to the situation and conditions they endured up there.

UPDATE #7: Eiltrid Kerman was officially named the hero of the team. we really appreciated her dedication and risking her life for the lives of her other crew members.

UPDATE #8: The 5 recovered crew are ready to join us back in the following positions:

  • Cpt. Henbo Kerman in the aviation department
  • Dr. Doodbree Kerman in R&D
  • Dr. Leeny Kerman in R&D
  • Eng. Ascia Kerman in technical and engineering department
  • Prof. Derby Kerman in R&D division.

Press Con. #10 - 1/Aug/2015

KRS has got its command module upgrade

SaEman CEO: After the successful launch we had for Wanderer I, we needed to complete the main and important temporary upgrade on the KRS... we have just attached a command module that will serve during the period from now until we finalize the deployment of the DSN arrays, and the main orbital station around Kerbin... the full crew to KRS will be transferred ASAP to put the new command module into full operations.

We will announce the dates for both of the two operations, but right now we are trying to catch up to complete our basic interplanetary communications system.
