I'm trying to narrow down causes for the OS X instability issues, so I'm creating some polls to test hypotheses as experimentally as is possible on the forums.

This poll is about OS X version. I'm intentionally limiting the polls to Yosemite or earlier, though I'd appreciate it if you post your actual version below.

I've had KSP consistently crashing (modded) in 10.7.5, usually when changing scenes, even from KSC to the main menu. It happened with a slightly longer interval between crashes stock. I can watch the app in Activity Monitor and see when it's going to **** the bed, then I get some graphical glitches, then it beachballs.

Master Tao, you apparently have no issues, and you're running Yosemite… what hardware? I'm just hoping my old mid-2010 i7 does OK with my forced OS "upgrade."

+1 for option 1.

Bit of a breakdown as I didn't include one for Poll 1.

I've been having significant crash issues being unable to play the game for more than 15/20 minutes at a time with most crashes occurring in scene ÃŽâ€s (or graphic setting ÃŽâ€s). The only way I've been able to play at all is by starting up in low res mode (KSP.app>Get Info: Lo Res) and run it in windowed 1024 (with nearly all graphics settings lowered by one or two notches) ... I've tried it with and without mods (all current for 1.0.2) to the same effect (including texture management in basic and aggressive modes).

Further, I've also noticed a lot of active phantom processes of the game that I cannot force close in my activity monitor.

Specs: Macbook Pro Retina 15.4" (2880x1800) // OS 10.10.3 // 2.6 GHz i7 // 16Gb 1600 MHz DDR3 // NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB (not run in energy saving mode to ensure using GPU) // Updated CUDA Driver // All apps closed when running KSP //

Thanks, MT.

Yosemite

Crashes every 20 min or so, memory usage reaches 3GB and the game becomes very sluggish and then crashes.

Usually happens when going into the VAB after a flight.

Yosemite

Crashing after every flight.

Returning to the VAB after a flight puts the game into LSD mode and the framerate drops to 1-2 fps, memory usage soars to 2.93GB

I voted on this a while ago, but I'll add my two cents. I was able to play a (fairly) heavily modded install on an iMac running 10.7 with exactly three crashes over probably thirty hours of playtime. I tried on a Mac Pro (running 10.10) : crashes literally every five minutes.

OS X compatibility might need a bit of a look ;)
