Battery Power

Recommended Posts

Surely the default needs to be that all instruments shutdown when batteries hit critical level (like SAS does). My probe orbiting minmus is now effectively dark as I have no power to shutdown the instruments that have sucked the life from the batteries. The solar panels are charging them, but as soon as any power returns the instruments just drain them again.

Simple fix would be to power down everything as soon as batteries hit critical level - whatever that is - 5%-10% of max value and to get a warning as well "batteries on <x-vessel> critical level"

you can also just have one battery on your vessel that is already shut off, and use that for backup power. I probably would not want multiple systems competing over the same battery, with one trying to shut it off and another trying to use it.

Ok Bug - so you are saying that I can just load a battery onto my spaceships and switch it off before I launch? and then in emergency I can switch it on and power down all of my instruments?

Yes, a second battery (or charge from a command pod) can be disabled; even if a probe is completely drained of power you can still toggled the disabled battery or command pod charge on.
