Fastest to KSC 2

Recommended Posts

Jeb has some ice cream in the freezer, but he forgot that he is supposed to be at KSC 2 for the day. Ever since the moldy lunch bag incident admin has removed all refrigerators in the spacecraft. Therefore you need to get that ice cream to KSC 2 before it melts. Fastest time gets to enjoy the coldest ice cream.

Please post screens of you landed near the space center and any mods that you used.

I made it in 16m 38s using vanilla parts. I could trim that down a little as I overshot the landing site a little on reentry :-X

My current vehicle can probably reach it in under 8 minutes, but it has yet to accomplish this...

Edit: Closest I\'ve come

I\'ll go ahead and add that explosions involving your cockpit will melt the ice cream. Melted ice cream is sad :\'(

Maybe so with 0.15, i\'ll double check. Earlier versions only initiated count with space, and it was always instantaneous.

Ok, RCS-only thrusters are clocked by the MET now in .15

But, I\'ve hit space and had the MET take a while to get going. It seems to be initiated with space, then only start counting when you leave the pad...

Yep I can confirm this. Same goes for the runway, time only starts once your wheels leave the ground.

I\'m sure this record won\'t stand long, but KPS Delivery IV can do the run in 12:04. It was optimized for 100km orbit, but suits this challenge OK too.

The fun lies in correcting your trajectory from orbit to bulls-eye the KSC2.

U-turn on the runway before taking off!

More pics if anyone wants \'em.

Very nice antbin.

Here is my official entry.

using my rocket plane I managed 13:12

I came up about 10 KM short of bulls-eyeing the space center. For my next design I will try to make it just a drop pod. My plane landing have a tendency to melt the ice cream if you know what I mean. ;)
