Dealing with an unexpected update

Steam downloaded a new up date.

It eraised all my contracts. I was just fueling the Duna mission at Minimus.

It will need a complete refit.

I have put it down to some sort of coup on Kerbil.....

I hope it does not happen again.

I wouldn't place the blame on an update necessarily. I've had my contracts wiped out of the blue before.

Still 1.0.2 in the Store. It looks like your copy of the game glitched on you.

I've also had contracts disappear.

I guess I didn't think too much of it, since i took them more for the down payments (which I really needed), and those stayed

Same, I had to copy-paste my contracts from earlier saves several times already. I know it happens while playing, even if you don't quickload at all.

Yes of course there's a an update with nobody on the forum talking about it and absolutely no devblog or changelog.

two ways to stop it i found one is a sure fire. go to steam/steamapps/common/ copy your KSP file to another location completely devoid of steam, then open said ksp folder. send the launcher to desktop as a shortcut, and use that from now on. or disable steam's automatic updates for KSP (which may or may not work.)

i bought it on steam but i run it as my previous post. 3 different instals including steam. steam is my vanilla sandbox then i have two different instals. on is RO one is not.

No updates have been pushed for KSP recently, so if anything is broken in this case it's Steam

Steam may have noticed a missing or broken file (the repair download is indistinguishable from update downloads IIRC correctly)

Strange it happened mid-play -> Never know steam to do any updating/repairing to a game while it is running (launched through steam), it will wait until the game is closed.

You can turn auto-update off for the game in steam by right clicking it in the game list in your library if you suspect steam is at fault; else I think you can copy the whole folder KSP from Steam\Steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program to else where and run that copy of it
