Inflatable dingy/water landing gear!

So. We have:

Landing legs of various sizes, types and material

Parachutes

Wheels

And suspensions

But we need rafts!

Basically:

You fall too fast into the ocean and die

Or

You fall close to the ocean, bit inflate your raft which you placed inline and live!

More detail:

Raft: the equivalent of water landing gear

Texture: toroidal tank

Types:

Toroidal:

Comes in various sizes. Place around the craft as a ring. Use the stages to deploy the raft, inflating it and helping land on water. Crash tolerance of 25 maybe?

Or something like that

Inline:

Place it as an inline tank. Similar size to the RCS inline tanks. Behaves the same as the radia ones, inflates outwards

At the moment all parts I am aware of float really good. I would indeed like to have that changed and in the same update rafts added.

Raft do not make water landing softer, because it usually deployed after the splashdown.

It needed to guarantee your craft stays buoyant, even if water gets into it, through holes being there by design ... or not.
