New Vs Old Kerbals

Hello everyone! While browsing the web, for nothing really, just searching 'KSP', I noticed this and it caught my eye; pictures below. The Kerbals from the earlier versions seem to look rather different, even in the in-flight cams. Just look at the two, they are different, and noticably so. Were they changed to look different in some version? Just a little interesting thing that caught my eye; I am a new player!

0.16 is the version that introduced actual Kerbals that could go on EVA's and, as a consequence, Larger parts and interior views. Before that the Kerbal cams where only static images that changed from time to time to give the impression that they are live video feed. That was the reason for the redesign.

The first one was before there was EVA. After 0.16 the models got changed and the main menu screen got updated somwhere around .20.

I like how the one on the left in the earlier version is going nuts about something.

They weren't static images. They were rendered as they were now, but at a very low FPS. The kerbals were 3d models with a noise effect applied over them, just as they are now. Just lower poly, rougher models. Their tongues were sharp-cornered trapezoids.

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure so I didn't say anything.

Ah, so they have come a long way! Very interesting, sharp cornered trapezoids..

It is stretched, I just found it that way on google, oh well!

Haha, he totally is going nuts about something, I agree! That face is perfect! And the one on the right is doing an opere! Oh Kerbal!
