KER won't calculate v properly with docked tanks

Recommended Posts

Hello Internet!

I am currently planning my first manned interplanetary mission to Duna.

My spaceship looks good so far, but I'm having trouble planning the amount of fuel I need

(the fuselages on the left are placeholders for a Mk1-Rover)

There are 4 tanks and 5 engines. How can I tell KER to calculate the ÃŽâ€v of the main ship using only the orange tank and the two LV-Ns?

Welcome aboard!

Disable all the other tanks in the right click menu, or disable fuel crossfeed for the docking ports in the right click menu, then KER should calculate what you want.

You might also consider a different fuel tank for your LV-Ns, the oxidizer in the orange tank is not used by nuclear engines and even if tweaked out the dry mass of the tank is quite high. Perhaps a liquid-fuel-only tank like one of the Mk3 tanks would be better.
