Why parachute failed :-( ?

Recommended Posts

I can't se the video here, but I suspect you open your chutes too soon. They break.

- Regular chutes can only be open below 250m/s (maybe 270 but no more)

- Drogue chutes can only be open below 500m/s (mayb 700m/s but no more)

This is valid for Kerbin.

There ie an menu item on the chutes "Is safe deploy ?"

Hmm, I'm guessing that the solar panels are blocking its deployment. I haven't seen this yet. Is there a warning about it in the VAB that you might have missed? I don't know what they mean by 'stowed' in this sense. It sounds like a misleading description of the actual problem.

You need to open the cargo bay. Then it works. You're getting the "can't deploy while stowed" message, so for whatever reason the game thinks the parachute is in the service bay. Possibly the thing attached to the service bay grabbed onto the inner node, not the outer one.

I think that is because my solar panels, despite engineering report not showing any design errors. I tried to MacGyverize a little ;) and try to lost the solar panels during re-entry and that what i get:D

It's the service bay. Just open the doors before you try to deploy the chute.
