Near Sapce Craft-1 Shooting Star

Recommended Posts

Now that I see the craft, you have waaaay too many intakes. Maybe you have some leftover design tips from 0.90 or before? Airhogging doesn't work anymore, engine thrust is now dependent on altitude and velocity, so if I were you, I'd get rid of all the surface-mounted intakes for much less drag and higher top speed.

Rune. And in 1.04, they halved air requirements again, so you will probably still have more than necessary.

Actually, since he's running four jet engines, even though he's got the intake space, he'll need at least three intakes thanks to the mildly screwy way stock intakeAir handles things. Even with IntakeBuildAid, he'll either need to stick a ram on the front or make a megastrake by radially attaching another precooler to the main fuselage, then attaching a ram to the front and a Tail Connector B to the back, then sinking the whole thing in with Offset.

OP: Try replacing the center turboramjets with some RAPIERs as well. This should make it into an SSTO pretty easily...

Each turbojet would have enough with a single precooler in 1.04 I think, and he has four I think plus two big ass intakes. I've run SSTO's on less frontal area per engine (0.5 is peachy in 1.04). It would also probably fly on two engines just a fine, with similar top speed at altitude but much greater range.

Rune. Less is more!

I didn't know most of this, I put that many intakes on it so i can fly at a considerably high altitude and so it doesn't burn up going so fast

Good Idea, Ill give it a try, then get some more pictures
