Drill in a service bay

Is it possible to place a Drill-o-matic Mining Excavator into a 2.5 m Service Bay without any kind of disintegration in flight?

Might be possible but if you make it clippy then the ship might obliterate when YOU SWITCH TO IT. So if you want to make a mining base with this be careful

Just tried it in a spaceplane.

Got it into orbit and opened the bay. Deployed the drill. No apparent difficulties.

I tried to put the drill into a service bay many times but never succeeded.

I think it works better in a large cargo bay. There Just isn't enough room in a service bay(i.e. Kraken bait).

The regular cargo bays should be fine, if it fits.

Service Bays... well, I wouldn't try it on any important vessel. I don't touch these things anymore. Too prone to explosions/random overheating/kraken attacks/doing the jitterbug.

Yes. It is possible. I actually had more problems with the kerbal on the left in that picture. He kept getting dislodged from his seat for some reason.

Oh, this type of clipping works surprisingly well. My drillplane can fly without spontaneous disassembling now.
