(KSP 1.0.4)OuterPlanetsMod Clouds Standalone

Recommended Posts

I believe you have all once heard of the Outer Planets mod. If not, check here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/104280-1-0-3-Outer-Planets-Mod-(1-7)-Tal-biomes-return-of-egg-shaped-Ovok-faster-loading-1-Jul

It is a mod that adds three gas giants to the Kerbol system, each of them (except Neidon, Neidon's moons are still in development) has it's own moons.

The new planets are:

Sarnus, an orange gas giant with large rings.

Urlum, a light blue ice giant with small rings.

Neidon, a purple gas giant with no rings and (so far) no moons.

Plock, a pluto-analog. Will eventually get at least one moon and it's own textures.

Sarnus being a Saturn analog, it, of course, has a Titan-analog orbiting it. Meet Tekto, a green, awkward world. It's surface is hidden from view by thick clouds. Or, well, it's supposed to. And that is what this small mod is for.

It is a version of Environmental Visual Enhancements that works with KSP 1.0.4, and it comes with the cloud configs of Sarnus, Urlum, Neidon, and Tekto. All you have to do is drag the contents of the .zip file into your KSP directory (the ZIP-file should have a folder named 'GameData'. Merge this folder with the 'GameData' folder in your KSP directory).

If done correctly, you should now have clouds in KSP!

Warning: we all know that KSP can have some serious bugs, though most, if not all, are fixed upon restarting the game. I'd like to underline the fact that, if your KSP bugs during gameplay, it might and might not be because of this mod.

Disclaimer

Please know that this mod is not made by me, I merely got it to work with 1.0.4. E.V.E: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55905-0-24-7-4-Sep-9-2014-EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements

Compatibility:

- (Should be) compatible with KSP 1.0.4

- Might be compatible with older KSP 1.0 versions such as KSP 1.0.3, but I haven't tested that!

What it adds:

- Thick clouds to Eve

- Clouds to Kerbin

- (Not much to Duna, I'm afraid)

- Better texture to Jool

- Clouds to Laythe

- Clouds to Sarnus

- Clouds to Tekto

- Clouds to Urlum

- Clouds to Neidon

DOWNLOAD:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0B81WFCqSQiY2JCWnFMRDR4WVk/view?usp=sharing

To-Do list:

- Get some pictures here.

- Get a video here.

- Get a coffee maker for the Laythe base.

License:

Since this is basically E.V.E but working for 1.0.4, here is E.V.E's license: https://github.com/rbray89/EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements/blob/master/README.md

A note: anything you release on these forums MUST have a license. For your own work, it can be anything you want, but you need to have it in the opening post as well as in the download. For someone else's work you're redistributing, you should include a link to their license, or their license directly.

A question: you state that this includes cloud configs and textures for the OPM worlds. But does it also include cloud configs and textures for the stock worlds, or is the user responsible for procuring those? "OPM Standalone" can be interpretated as the latter, so it might be worth explicitly stating what you're shipping and what you're not shipping.

They include textures for the stock planets, such as Eve. However, expansions such as Duna dust storms are not included. What I meant with 'standalone' is that it does not require any extra mods. It can also be used without OPM.

Here is what is inlcuded for the stock planets:

-Eve: Thick clouds that hide the surface

-Kerbin: Clouds

-Duna: (not much)

-Jool: Much better textures that will make it look like a gas giant instead of a fuzzy greeen ball

-Laythe: Clouds

As for the license, this is basically E.V.E but working for 1.0.4.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just a quick Q about the contents of the download.

It contains two MM DLL files, one .2.6.3 and also the latest .2.6.6.

I have read that having two MM files of different versions is bad for your KSP.

Is this just an error in the package or is it supposed to have two MM files in it?

Cheers,

Crap! Sorry I'm late with my reply, I was having some serious internet issues.

Anyways, I know that the download includes multiple versions of ModuleManager. It's just that I had the two versions installed at the same time when I got it to work, so, just to be sure, I included both of 'em. However, my KSP always says:

[Number here] Patches applied

0 Patches applied

Pasted over each other, so KSP can in fact run multiple versions of MM at once. I think you can safely delete the .2.6.3 version, though, always be careful.
