Farnsworth Minmus/ Ike mining operation

Recommended Posts

Good news everyone!

Farnsworth Rocket Surgery and Rubber Toaster Delivery Industries Inc. has successfully established mining operations on both Minmus and Ike! Photography to ensue. ZFjv0Vj.png

"We must space the fuel!" cried one overzealous engineer, when he stumbled upon the idea of an orbital refueling station. Literally, he tripped on the design schematics for an orbital base.

But to do that you need to bring the fuel from the surface to an awaiting station. Meet the Butterfly fuel transport dropship.

These are absolutely gorgeous! I want to steal them! I love the entire setup! So elegant. I've been trying to come up with a plan on how to manage a refueling station on Minmus, and oh my word do I want to steal these plans (if not just the basic design ideas).

You have made many of our designers and engineers very happy! Many of them have only received accolades from their mothers and smelly Frank down in the processing dept.

The final spit polish process is wrapping up on the Farnsworth Dragonfly:

I am planning on releasing many of the Farnsworth designs (mining equipment, modular station sections, 4 dropship variants, ssto's) as soon as we can replenish our spit supply.

The first generation fuel transport ship had a massive Kraken hidden in the landing gear. Many kerbals were destroyed because of it's evil.

We were able to trigger violent flame filled disassembles with amazing repeatability. Because of these disasters the Farnsworth quality control department was created and now checks are made to verify the anti-explosion-ness of every design that leaves the plant.

Here is a teaser of the Dragon Heavy dropship. Our stalwart pilot is retrieving junk from the surface of Minmus.

The Farnsworth Rocket Surgery & Rubber Toaster Delivery Inc. storefront will be opening soon!

Our anti-explosion-ness testers are already working double overtime to make sure the designers are not kraken loving idiots.

Also, need a signature image and advice on where the best place to upload the craft files is (dropbox, google docs, kerbalX).

Those are prety nice! And yeah, I feel you on the kraken atacks. Nothing more rude than your ship blowing up during a landing when you toggle the landing gear. Extensive testing is key!

Rune. The kraken loves beutiful ships, too.

This was my attempt at it. Funnily enough I finished it today, came onto KSP forum and found this thread. I launched it as one piece. The lander is parked in the background, just past the hill. It docks to the 4 docking ports. I parked at AT Rabbit (courtesy of Frank_G) and my own personal Scout Hovership. Of course, the actual transfer and lander was assembled in orbit. Note I did NOT use cheats or the Hyperedit in the shot. +Rep if you like it!

Just so you all know, I launched it in one piece because launching it in bits would be very annoying to assemble on the surface. Also the lander was part Hammer SRB, part Skipper LF+O engines. And it has no more fuel in it (exactly 10.3 units left which will burn in under 2 seconds). So it was a one way trip for those wondering. Its original purpose was actually to serve as a command base for the Duna system.KO0RYdf.jpg

Amazing astute authoritative author accentuates all at 10 tonight!

In other news, malevolent Kraken quoted quipping Kerbal construction of Farnsworth failure.

The mining outpost, fuel transport tractor, and orbital fuel delivery craft and other things are all available now. You can download them from my KerbalX signature.

Let me know what you think.
