Astronaut Complex issues

So I am working my way through career mode and I have encountered a problem with the Astronaut complex... I can no longer hire kerbals. I have it upgraded to tier 3 but when I click the green check to hire a kerbal nothing happens. It also says that the next kerbal will cost 0 kerbal cash. I can still get new kerbals through missions but that is very tedious. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

P.S. I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to editing save files or configs or anything of the sort.

I don't recall hearing of this problem lately. It would be helpful if you could include a little more info, such as a save file and log file.

Thanks! I'm using version 1.0.4.861 the only thing I did to the save file was bring jeb back to life after an *cough* unfortunate accident

Looks like your save is corrupted by a stray kerbal. The kerbal looks like it was part of a rescue at some point, but now the information is orphaned in your save.

Open up your save file with a plain text editor, such as notepad. Then look for the section below and delete it all. Make sure you don't leave any stray blank lines in between the information around this Vessel structure (KSP doesn't like that).

It's probably easiest to find by searching for "Lagerigh" (the name of the kerbal).
