Eeloo & the New Pluto

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if there are any changes to Eeloo in the works, given that it is the analog of Pluto and so much new information has been discovered about Pluto in the recent New Horizon mission.

For example: the iconic heart-shape, the atmospheric "tail", and the strange moutain-in-crater feature.

Well, we've known the general color of Pluto for quite some time, but that didn't stop Squad from making Eeloo white. I've always thought of Eeloo as a visual and physical analogue to Europa, and only a position analogue to Pluto.

I see no reason, nowhere it's said that the Kerbol System is a recreation of the real solar system. Jupiter isn't green and Venus isn't purple.

And I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that, at least at some point, there were plans on adding a second gas giant and Eeloo would change to be a moon to that planet.

Give it moons, like Charon, and mutually tidally lock them. They should improve Dres and Moho too, seeing as they're just balls of rock floating in space without anything exciting, like moons or anomalies (the Mohole aside).

I think it should be given a Charon analog. Obviously it couldn't be in a binary orbit, but it could be called a binary planet in the tracking station description.

Ooby, as in Goodbye. Hello Eeloo, Goodbye Ooby. Yeah. That's the name of the Charon analog. I like that name.

The atmospheric tail isn't anything new. Every time there's an atmosphere and a star, tail will be made.

Eeloo should've been made into second gas giant's satellite long time ago, but it seems Squad has abandoned the development of the planetary system. That's where Outer Planets Mod steps in: resembling the real Solar system, but kerbalized.

We've already got something like this in Duna.

The plan was for Eeloo to become a moon of a second gas giant, but imho, they should work on procedural surface sites of interest first- so thorough surface exploration becomes a thing.
