Ludicrous Speed!

Tesla is adding a ludicrous mode to their car, what are your thoughts?

0 to 60 in under 3 seconds? Impressive for any car, more impressive for electric. Still, nobody was asking for it and it'll cost $10,000 more, so I don't foresee a huge number of Teslas with this feature being sold.

Lets wait and see if any Police department wants to convert to electric .... that option will then be a necessity, I would think.

It doesn't sound as if Tesla's planning to have the car travel at 'ludicrous speed,' only to have ludicrous acceleration. I know I'm being pedantic, but this mode doesn't sound as if it'll increase the car's top speed, only the rate at which it reaches its top speed.

Even though this is an important step in the right direction for cars, only when a vehicle can 'go to Plaid' will I be happy...

When you pay $130,000 for a car, $10,000 doesn't matter, at all. I would expect every one sold to have the new feature.

I rode in a friend's Tesla and it was unbelievably fast!

I own a Mitsubishi i-Miev electric car. So, not quite the same specs as a Tesla machine, but I gotta tell ya, I love the electric cars. Next time you are in the market for a vehicle, please consider it! And kudos to them for continuing to push the boundaries of technology, they are to be admired, even if none of us can afford to buy their products.
