Lucked into launch viewing

The family and I arrived at Cape Canaveral last night in preparation for a cruise later this week. I found out that the Delta IV medium launch for last night was delayed to tonight. So we will be standing on the beach and hopefully filming the launch.

You get to see a launch by accident? You are so lucky...

For me to ever see a launch live i would have to take a several months vacation thousands of kilometers from home, with a nomal 2 week vacation the risk of a scrubbed launch is way to high...

Looks like It'l be launching the WGS-7, "The Air Force's seventh Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellite", into Low-Earth orbit.

Live coverage will start at 7:47pm EST for a launch window at 8:07pm.

Man, you're lucky. I went on vacation this year to a town close to the Wallops Flight Facility, so I was excited to see a launch. Turns out that their next launch was in mid-July or August (Can't remember) and I went the first week of June. Oh well, I DID get to see some cool rockets outside, including the Little Joe, so I was satisfied.

It was a cool launch. I live in Orlando, and I can watch launches from my backyard. Literally! The back of my house faces towards the Cape.

It was a very good launch, right on time at 2007. I've video in HD but won't be able to post it for a while. That Mouse is getting more of my money for the next few days. Watch this space.
