Millennium Falcon - this one actually flies...

Recommended Posts

OK it's yet another Millennium Falcon... but this one is quite simply the funnest and coolest thing I've ever done in KSP. The stock flying Millennium Falcon has been ported to version 1.0.4 (the 0.90 version is also available). I'll let the craft speak for itself, all I can say is that it has been a great ride designing and testing the crap out of this ship, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Feel free to use it in any pictures/video, but just cite me as the designer.

Latest updates and links to other Star Wars craft are on my SHOWCASE page.

The design didn't end up changing that much between version 0.90 and 1.0 - just the engines, antenna array and some gimbleys.

Still flies and shoots; jut doesn't get into orbit in V1.0.4.

I had to make some modifications for it to show up nicely in SketchFab

Note: part count for this craft is 426

I created this video with the V0.90 version of the Falcon this time with music and proper editing - I'm still working on another video for the latest version but I didn't want to wait to post the craft file so I will be coming out with another video later...

Note: part count for this craft is 500

I guess it's star wars week up in here. This thing is awesome though. Nice work with the details, the cockpit looks super dope.

Fun fact. I first downloaded the ksp demo like 2 years ago because someone posted a millennium falcon to reddit

We're gearing up for the new movie - Woo Hoo!

I've downloaded a few Falcon replicas but none of them flew. One of my goals in this game was to build a proper recreation, and I'm happy with the result. I can check that one off the bucket list.

Well done man ! Got a similar looking with my old falcon but mine never fly :) was build in metal plate & got 1800 parts !

I rep if i got some in my pocket !

Yeah, I had to work to keep the part count low. With this craft in particular, because it flies you need the performance. I'm hoping V1.1 has some more optimization updates so I can capture some better video...

KLONG!!! *

(*Sound of jaw hitting deck concussively.)

My mind... it is BLOWN.

Here - have some rep, you magnificent SOB! :D

If you're looking for performance I almost hate to say it but the version 0.90 Falcon is much better. Not only does it fliy into orbit as an SSTO with 14 Kerbals on board, it's just a lot more fun to fly. Nothing against V1.0 I love the new additions to the game it's just that the areo in V0.90 is more entertaining to play around in.

Incredible man! I wasn't expecting something that good looking to be able to fly and shoot as well! Hell of a job!

With Rune's help I got my first space plane into LKO yesterday, and now that I have the new aero figured out I'm looking at this design once more and thinking.... I may be able to get it into orbit again - all I need is MORE ROCKET ENGINES!!!! LOL
