Overheating cubic strut

Recommended Posts

I have experienced this little chap exploding due to overheating on a vessel at the precise moment that a jettisoned part of the craft is destroyed by crashing into the ground on launch.

Parts seem to be still physically a part of the vessel even when they have been jettisoned.

One can see it affecting the staging list as parts are destroyed.

The overheating of cubic struts and other small parts under certain difficult to accurately pin down circumstances is a known bug.

AFAIK no solutions as yet except to turn down conduction factor (or install Deadly re-entry, which does the same).

It's not a fix, but it does seem to help with the thermal instability.

As for destroyed / detached parts showing in staging... I have seen this too, but it doesn't seem to be causing any real problems and everything appears normal after leaving and returning to the craft.

See my last post. I was very mad about this bug. Took up my entire night last night trying to find a solution. Turns out it's a terrible, awful stock bug in the heating system and conduction needs to be almost turned off or set to one.

Thing is though I had conduction set to 0.1 and I still had heating problems. Hoping the use of radiators fixes that issue.

Had a fairly simple probe that was getting cooked by the rocket stage below it. For some reason all the heat was conducting into the probe and it exploded even with 0.1 conduction.

Its infuriating.

I saw it.

I was the first person to reply to it.
