Another question. On my base I have a mining module, with the 2 fuel cells. When I active them, they give the error "Missing liquid fuel", while crossfeed is enabled (by default) and they're next to a fuel tank....

 

 

 

That's weird... the fuel cells should pull resources just like RCS, from anything available in the current stage. You sure the tanks aren't all forbidden or something? If not, you are definitely in bug territory here.

Jealous of all these ppl who have managed to deploy this base. Just sent attempt three crashing into Duna's surface at 500m/s. :/ The staging order got messed up while docked to the mothership which caused bad things to happen on descent...

Well, my base was on the Mun which is arguably harder than Minmus but I bet its a lot easier than Duna. I spent a fair amount of time getting mine done but it was the first time too. I know the next time will be easier. Duna, on the other hand Im sure will be quite a challenge.

Well, I would have advised to use a Trident for something like that. Using Iron Man Woman settings like I know Frozen_Heart does, it's nice to have >1 TWR facing the sky at your fingertips, and enough dV in the tanks to brake propulsively all the way... you know, because the aerodynamics are going to freak you out if you are used to sensible pressures like those on kerbin. Face Duna like the lunar landing it is, and be glad for the extra dV savings of the "atmosphere".

Besides, if you still fudge it up (like we all do at one point or another), you only burn a module, and you don't have to bring a whole base to try again!

These base modules are great!  I've had alot of fun getting them to Mun, Minmus and Duna.  Who knows where I'll put one next!

Seriously now, thanks for the screenies, they look awesome! Might I ask how you deployed that nice Dunatian base? Dropped some CRADLES, or went to "pro" way with Tridents? Just so I know which one I can say to be test-flown in Duna conditions.

 

Rune. Yes, I know, it's hard to believe I haven't gotten around to building a base on Duna myself.

I landed the base with the CRADLES, it took several F5/F9s, but I finally got them all landed.  Definitely harder to assemble the  base on Duna than Mun/Minmus!
