Ship flipping when I enter Mun orbit.

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to send a rover to Mun. Everything is going ok, until I establish a Mun orbit.

When I'm in a "pass trough" trajectory it goes ok,

the moment the orbit become elipsal, the ship keeps turning all around when I fire the rocket.

It's like it is sliding because of the acceleration.

The ship is only the rocket for landing and the rover.

Look, the exact moment it start turning:

The pic is too small for me to see where the engines are. I think I see one 1.25m reaction wheel on there.

If you're not out of power (which you aren't) I'm guessing the craft has an offset center of mass and doesn't have enough control authority to counteract it.

I'd agree there's a good chance the offset Center of Mass could be causing you problems. It might not have been happening earlier because you've reached a fuel state where the CoM has shifted enough that the engine gimbal and torque wheel can't compensate anymore. Now that some fuel is burned off, the CoM might be moved enough that firing the engines causes too much torque.

Cheers,

Is it actually the rocket flipping all over the place, or the camera? When you enter an orbit your camera mode automatically changes; the same happens when you go from orbital to sub-orbital flight.
