WW2 BAD-T - World War 2 BDArmory AI Dogfight Tournament [FINISHED]

What's a list of the planes competing right now, and their general configuration?

I would like to know that aswell!

IMHO: Even if people dont share their designs, everyone should at least post pictures of their submitted crafts.

I have posted pictures of all but my jet.

Sorry but unless im mistaken the only lfo part you can have, but the oxideser out of is the oscar-b meaning you have an illegal part on your craft. Also i don't know what the policy is to cladding your plane in those panels either.

Good to see another user of stock parts though.

I may be wrong but I don't see anything in the OP regarding LF-O tanks. However I can remove the radiator panels... tomorrow morning.

EDIT: Oh... rocket grade parts. Well, that's frustrating. I'll fix that in the morning too, I guess.

You can clip an Oscar b with no oxidizer into your fuselage.

About the rocket grade parts, that short 1.25m fuel tank is actually allowed, I need to update the OP.

And yeah, up to 4 radiators for open cockpits only, can be used on the cockpit only.

I will post the full video but after a few mins the sound vanished so it will be a boring ride :P

You will not miss much as I will comment about what was going on and what is the behavior of the airplanes on the short version.

@nigelwx: I will try to, but I will only tell who fights against who when close to the battle, because when I do that you cannot resubmit.

But yeah, weapon and engine setup sharing seems fair.

Neat biplane, on mine the topspeed was 120m/s but the AI has no idea how to pilot it.

There is a BDArmory mod that syncs damage on DMP, since biplanes go slow I guess it can work!

Meanwhile, in the alternate dimension where biplanes can reach 400 mph in level flight. (submission post)

And just to prove the engine is at correct thrust limiter:

2zNx408.png

Did I mention that at low speed and full fuel and ammo load, it still has a TWR over 1, and it can maneuver on a dime yet with good stability?

Note-to-self: just because it can reach 15000 meters high does not mean that it can survive a transonic dive... It blew up upon reaching 295 m/s and an altitude of 8000 meters.

I hereby submit my Biplane fighter Attera "GP-B3" biplane fighter

Download link

Top sea-level speed: 184 m/s

Mass on pad: 1.03 tonnes.

Wing area: 17.9 m^2

Armament: 2x shKAS and 800 rounds.

TWR: up to 1.15

Fuel: 19.63 units of LF.

Engine: 1x Aerosport @50.5% max thrust.

Wait, important! I'm redoing the link so the guard will work correctly!

Okay, done.

@Pds314: good job!

Now you just need a safe cockpit.

Is this a challenge requirement or your advice? It used to have an opaque windscreen, but I got rid of it early in the design process, opting for the thin sideguards instead. They double as backup vertical stabilizers in case someone manages to score hits on the normal one (which is unlikely, considering that 7.62 mm requires more than one hit, and all of my test runs showed nothing could get an accurate hit on anything remotely agile except with spray and pray, basically because if a fighter is maneuvering at 10 G, it can dodge bullets easily. )

It's an implicit requirement, to keep things fair.

Same about floating parts and glitch use (though sal_vager's biplane pass because it's a replica and there is nothing I can do about it, haha.).

Edit: I am not saying you are using glitches those were just examples of other implicit rules, you just need a cockpit :P

An overview of who submitted what would be cool, just a pool of crafts so people see what the competition has crafted. Kinda like F1 racing they see it but dont know any details other than: 'Whoa looks crazy man' ^^

And some clarification, I can now resubmit my craft to change some design problems or guard/AI propertise? Or is that a no go since my plane was already in a fight?

VentZer0: not yet as your craft is still qualified.

Yeah there were some absurd AI mistakes there, but it still performed well, with a few fixes you could have won.

Hmm, I can do that, but first I need time.

Will see if I can do it from mobile anyway, but there will be no info about the setup, just names.

Private submissions will have both creator and craft names hidden unless they say it's okay to show it before the battle.

I haven't managed anything as low as 1.06T yet but I have got one that's controllable with the AI and has an armoured cockpit. I might have to switch it to a front engine and poke the Kerbals head up a bit.

^ It's actually not a strut, it's structure (B9 PWing) and is connected to the front intake and runs through the center of the engine, it seems possible IRL, maybe :)

While this is no doubt cool, it makes me think that some of these are getting a little out of hand with the procedural parts. I'm not sure what could/should be done about it, just got me thinking since my planes are built from mostly stock parts. Well..........

When you can put a 20mm cannon thru the prop center IRL then this should be working aswell ^^

It looks like an ultra light with guns :D

You are referring to the Motorkanone, where the main propeller shaft was bored out to house, or become, a barrel for a gun. However being a structural element in RL any forces applied to the tail surfaces have the potential to bend the shaft causing engine damage.

Yes I meant the Me109's Machinecannon.

Well of course the bending would be an issue, my comment was meant to be humorous.

@TUKE: it will not get out of hand, if it starts to I will simply add min size/weight restrictions.

Also to try and help a little I've been keeping my eye on this thread while your offline, and trying to answer and comment on things.
