how to place external seats on my rover?

how to i put external seats on RoveMate, i mean i can put them, but when kerbals sit on it, they aren't sitting, they are laying and looking in the sky like here http://i.imgur.com/1pVweTT.jpg

That's because you've oriented the seat that way. Try rotating it before you put it down. The "curved" brace portion is the seat back (where the kerbal rests his/her back). Make those control handles point upward!

Gizmos are your friend. After placement, use the offset and rotate gizmos to put it right where you want it. In fact, you could also use those instead of pulling it off and rotating (if you wanted).

btw why are these rovemates so small, it's impossible to make something big with this thing

And...I have no idea why. I think it's mostly from back in the day, when there were few probe cores or smaller parts for rovers that size. But I don't really know.

Usually we don't use rovemates for manned rovers, for those we use plane fuselage parts.
