Funny scam texts.

So I have a StraightTalk phone. And every once in a while I get texts on it. Several times I\'ve gotten texts that are basically the usual nigerian scam of give me your information and I'll give you money.

Well they\'ve gotten a little smarter, they\'re now sending me texts about winning contests I never entered. Apparently I\'ve won several $1,000 gift cards for best buy and walmart.

The links they send are usually too fishy to even attempt bestbuy.com.gpanex.biz and the such.

Its pretty amazing how I get these, despite never giving out this number, hell my parents don\'t even know it.

Anybody else lever get anything like this?

This is clever?

They\'ve been doing this to everyone\'s email for decades.

In fact, text-messaging is email.

The only thing different from texting and sending email is texts is sent up to satellites... OT: I used to get scam texts when I had a prepaid verizon phone... One basically said give me your credit info so I can get you a Panasonic Plazma screen TV.

The best thing is it was definitely a computer. I tried to track the number it showed up as cancelled so they either just sent the mass text spam or it was a computer set to do that.

I tell Scammers that I would indeed like the million dollars that is stuck in the escrow account, but first I will need 100 dollars to get 1000 dollars out of my own escrow, so I\'ll have money to pay for the money in their escrow account.

Reverse scamming.

I love it.

All this stupid stuff makes me think that putting a half-a-cent cost for every email wouldn\'t be a bad idea...

I honestly don\'t think that\'s too bad of an idea.

Initially at least. I\'d need to see numbers on the amount of emails spammers send out vs. they\'re actual income.

I know they send out millions of emails in a day, but I know they still make a ton of money even though .1% of those emails are opened.

It might push scammers to scam in more devious ways as well
