well, soyuz 2.1v (no booster soyuz (but with a more powerful engine) with volga upper stage (instead of fregat)) has a 2.8t payload to leo - light rocket class

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soyuz-2-1v

soyuz 2.1b (latest 'classic' soyuz) has around 8 tons of payload to leo (depends on the launch site) - medium class of launcher and 2.4 to 3.25 tons payload to GTO (with fregat which weights 6.5 tons fully fueled - depends on rocket variant & launch site)

an 'intermediate' 2 booster soyuz would be roughly in the 3 / 5 tons class to LEO - russians already have a launcher of this class in preparation - Angara 1.2, with 3.8 tons of payload to LEO (the 1.2 will use an URM-1, and a modified soyuz block I (with the new RD - 0124 engine) - Angara 1.2 made a suborbital test flight already once in 'PP' configuration.

given the planned price tag on Angara rockets, guess develloping a two booster soyuz would be completely redundant and too pricey compared to angara 1.2 :)

Adding two boosters "back on" to Soyuz 2-1v would give almost the same performance as Soyuz 2-1B, with fewer components and more commonality! And then a four-booster version would be in the same payload class as Falcon 9~
