[Stock] Minmus Base Alpha Rocket (Probable enough fuel to go twice)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just made a rocket that can probably get you to Minmus, land, go back to Kerbin, orbit, back to Minmus (Haven\'t tried yet). That is how much fuel it has and I just thought that I would share it with you guys.

(Note: Separate the atmosphere engines at around 14,000)

(Note2: Let the ship role on launch, this is normal and helps keep it strait)

Here are the pics:

Thanks for helping me get some deeper space action! I essentially copied your designs and tweaked it to my liking.

Here\'s what I managed to do:

[*] Soyux III

[*] Xpe II

[*] Xpe II Charlie (slower, but further range)

[*] SatX

Soyux III

(Original name: Minmus Base Alpha Rocket)

[*] A very forgiving and stable, light/medium lifter rocket. Can lift most landers and planes to Minmus and the Mun, with fuel to return to Kerbin.

[*] [update] Smaller fuel tanks for the atmo-engines. When you get rid of them at ~17km, you still have a lot of fuel left in them. A waste to carry too much fuel which you will not use anyways.

[*] [update] Advanced canards. The rocket will not spin/rotate anymore.

Plenty of fuel left at Minmus. ~850kg fuel left

Soyux III with a little heavier equipped landing module. Also: extra boosters.

I broke off the engine on landing, to make it more permanent and better looking.

Xpe II

Lighter version of the Soyux III

[*] Update, Xpe II C, is now available. Slower ascent but theoretically much more fuel efficient.

[*] Smaller engine on plane, making it possible to land vertically on the landing legs.

Here at Minmus, notice amount of fuel.

SatX

[*] Alpha stage. Thrust/weight ratio + fuel efficiency improvable.

[*] Smaller rocket revision of the Soyux III, designed for putting satellites to orbit around bodies.

Hmm, I wonder what happend to the canards...?
