Do Kerbals Hibernate?

You do realize plants to not turn light into matter? They use light as a main source of energy. They still need food.

Actually, no, they produce food (glucose or fructose). But they need water and carbon dioxide (and energy).

If the game does include some sort of life support requirement that brings up the issue of rescue missions. How will it work if you need to rescue a Kerbal in orbit around say Eeloo? Will you need to do it before their life support runs out?

I don't know if they hibernate but I do believe they live underground (to avoid falling rocket debris).

That'd be cool. It would basically require you to have self-sufficient space stations around each planet, for quick rescue missions.

I like to think they are really efficient photosynthesizers (word?).

I refuse to think that they can hibernate.

On large trips, I always try to build a properly sized ship so that they don't go nuts from being stuck in a 3m^2 room.

(That, however, is keeping me from sending Kerbals to other planets. Gah!)
