The new rocket engine

it's the SRBs that are way too puny for the task

I agree here. We have never really got a heavy duty SRB for shuttle lifting. We should also be able to edit the thrust curve to tail off to keep balance.

Though a perfect shuttle booster would be about 1.875m which isn't a part size in this. And that's getting onto a whole other discussion.

I like the engine, but I also think it's way too powerful. Three Skippers have more than enough thrust to lift a Mk3 sized shuttle + payload into orbit, it's the SRBs that are way too puny for the task. I can clip a ton of them, but then again I can do that with the Skippers as well.

Any new part is a welcome addition to the collection, of course.

You will get no argument from me on the SRB's but putting the skippers on a Mk3 and making it look good isn't really possible. Either the engines are far too close or the tank butts extend out the sides.

The gimbal limits are already tweakable. But hey, never let reality get in the way of a jab against Squad.
:o

Well, there shouldn't be any problem with a large gimbal range then.

Gimbal limit is tweakable, not speed: if you set your engine to, say, 20% gimbal, as soon as you touch controls, the engine will change thrust as brutally as if it was at 100%, keeping your craft as wobbly as it can be.

Agree, I didn't realize they were tweakable either. Guess I never bothered to look lol.

Yes, but the higher the Gimbal, the more 'wobble' effect that will cause. That was my concern. If you can limit the gimbal then you can make them just like the engines we have now.

We discussed that, it's because we're using on/off keys to control the gimbal movement. Fine controls does change the behaviour so that a brief tap won't immediately crank the gimbal to the max. Fine controls is something you can switch on or off because sometimes you want near-instant full deflection on your controls.
