[IDEA] Compressed Liquid Fuel

Recommended Posts

So, the basis of this idea is a bunch of stock alike parts that fit different command pods(1,2 compressed liquid fuel tanks per command pod size/shape), the idea here is, the compressed liquid fuel tanks could hold 5x more liquid fuel and have an extremely light weight, and in utilities, there would be a converter, to decompress the liquid fuel before it comes out of the engine(and oxidizer), but it would require 7-15 electricity/sec

Are there any mod makers who can make this?(Stock alike parts, too?)

I'm not a fan of your suggestion at all, as it violates quite a few fundamental laws of physics:

- Liquids, for the most part, are very difficult to compress, and certainly not down to 1/5 of its normal volume. Compared to solids and gases, liquid molecules tend to be packed very closely while in their liquid state, and it takes vast amounts of energy to reduce these gaps at a molecular level, much more than can be supplied by mere electric charge.

- Compression of substances generally only reduces their volume, while their mass remains the same. Other than the (hypothetical and trivial) weight savings from using less material for the tank pressure vessel, there is no way a compressed liquid fuel tank would be any lighter than a full-sized tank.

- There is no magic substance that can reduce/increase the apparent mass of a substance.

I concur with Sumghai. There is nothing sensible about this idea. Not only are you proposing that something that is fairly incompressible be compressed so that you can carry 5x as much of it but... it doesn't see a corresponding 5x mass increase?

Look, you're certainly free to play how you want though; it's your sandbox. I can't imagine though that you're going to get a lot of support for this.
