One step foward, four steps back

Recommended Posts

I've noticed recently, that my keyboard controls are default, but every time I press Yaw left or Yaw right on my spaceplanes, the navball tends to go in that direction for one second then starts tilting in the opposite direction and I'm forced to try to fight this mystery force. same thing for rolling and pitch.

UPDATE:

Also, I've been noticing that Aerospikes in a 6-sided symmetrical ring, will cause them to burn at different thrusts, the right-side burns at 180kN but the left side only burns 7kN

As said above, it may be aerodynamic forces.

Though it may also be SAS messing around with you. Even in "stability assist" mode, it can act the opposite way of the controls.

If you press, say W, for a time and imagine that inertia will finish the thing then SAS will correct the movement by applying a force the opposite direction. This might happen for even smaller movement, because as soon as you let the key, SAS will counteract.

BTW, SAS behaviour has been very debated, because of some obvious issues with its way of correcting.

thanks, it was the SAS after all. weird, the rotation icon never showed while it was doing it.

I stuck MechJeb on the craft to replace the SAS function and it works fine now.

The unmodded way is to deactivate SAS, manoeuvre, re-activate SAS. Using 'A' for example, either press T, A, T or press F-A.

Manoeuvring while SAS is engaged, you'd expect deflection in the other dimensions; that's it's job.
