These engineered bacteria settle in nano electrodes that are fed electrons form an EMF, they then absorb CO2 and can be programmed to covert the result compound into more complex organic such as oil.

They might also be useful in space because you can take out on intermediate, LEDs and you can use them to convert CO2 in an asteroid or subterrania shelter without needing to expose the inhabiants to dangers at the surface.
