Odd, I'm showing the opposite effect over here...

Desktop win 7 64 bit

amd FX-4300 quad core cpu

twin radeon 6970 gpu in crossfire mode

16Gig ram

Gonna double check with something that can actually fly.:D

Edit: Same craft flipped to point upwards.

Waited for mach effects to start, and noticed that the fps counter always stayed constant, despite the obvious increase in lag

Without Physwarp: Slightly smoother framerate, but in-game time was ticking up at about 2-3 seconds per in-game second.

With Physwarp: Framerate tanked, but in-game time was going up by about 1.5-2 seconds per in-game second.

Sooo.... something's up with that still.:sticktongue:

Using physics time warp did have an impact and improve the stuttering. The slowdown in game speed though was extremely apparent when on EVA to the point of making EVA a fight to control due to the delayed response rate.

Thanks goes to SpaceTiger for writing the KerboKatz - SmallUtilities to observe this issue.

Testing: The value of max delta time per frame is increasing how odd. For some reason I thought a lower value was better for slow computers.

After setting the MPDTF to 0.03 and using the physics time warp the value changes with each step.

  • the value for MPDTF (located in the top left corner) starts at 0.03077147
  • during physics time warp x2 and after the value for the MPDTF is increased to 0.04
  • during physics time warp x3 and after the value for the MPDTF is increased to 0.06
  • during physics time warp x2 the and after value for the MPDTF is increased to 0.08

Setting the MPDTF to 0.08 or higher will not change after physics time warp is used.

The results of the tests are in the album:
