Soviet Program Album

Same for most LVs, to at least some extent. Atlas-V uses a derivative of the first hydrolox engine ever flown, Delta II uses a core design that actually predates the R-7, et.c. et.c.
Sure, but what's still taking people to space? That was really my point. The Soviets pioneered a lot of manned spaceflight and they're the only ones putting people in space right now. If we Americans could've kept our heads out of our butts we might've been flying Apollo capsules on top of Saturn 1b derivatives instead of hitching rides from our old rival.

That earlier remark about the Politburo applies equally to the U.S.

Even if we set aside that the Chinese also have that capability, that is not a booster issue. Atlas V has the capability and is crew-rated.
My bad RE: China. Hopefully Iran joins them soon, too. The R-7 family has been man-rated since 1964, Atlas V since, what, '02? Not putting down America, just pointing out that they're not the end-all, be-all of space. The R-7 family comprises some of the most reliable and storied launchers out there (also the most beautiful).

I thought it was man rated by late 1960? Since Gagarin's flight was in early 61.

Is the Atlas V man rated? I wouldn't think so...

Mistake #2, I looked up Voskhod, not Vostok. Thank you. Edited by regex

If we're going on looks alone, that belongs to N-1

They kinda were, since the first unmanned Moon orbits and landings were Soviet.

Still, the general lack of interest in space exploration is sad. We've reached so far only to find out that most people don't give a darn about how humanity's progress is doing. But frankly, what's even worse are the people that go out there spreading their conspiracy theories, saying that we didn't even accomplish the major achievements in spaceflight or that we didn't achieve spaceflight at all, without even researching about it.

As for the OP, the link is great.

Not Unmanned. The situation is more catastrophic,in Russia think that the Soviets landed the first man on the moon ...

And here it is not much different, we have a congressman who asked NASA if their mars probe was going to land where Aldrin and Armstong planted the flag

Lol, you have to be joking....

Or not. I've seen worse. Like people who think the Moon is fake.

Not the moon landings. The MOON. As in the celestial object.

Like people who believe the ISS is fake because they used their telescope wrong, and pointed it to a plane instead of the ISS, and then insist that he got it right, and the ISS doesn't exist- never mind the FAR more likely scenario.

This too.

In her defense, her district does not cover NASA. lol. And unfortunately you've prolly never heard of Bill Clemence, Or several other east Texas Congressman who have tried to stop The EPA claiming things like CO2 is not a greenhouse gas and mercury isn't all that poisonous and all kind of other denials. This little SJL faux-pas is minor compared to what some of our East Texas elite have to say. We also produced Lyndon B Johnson and Ladybird so.......

You might think why the voters would ..... The last ballot there were about 50 predecided and 6 contested elections. gerrymandering does not make the politicians smarter.

One thing to take into account is that many politicians pretend to be dumber to appeal to what are effectively dumber voters, this has a twofold effect:

  1. Those pretending eventually become what they pretend to be
  2. Legit idiots arrive, thinking they are in good company

They are risk takers, there are those who aren't intimidated by their ignorance and those that are.
