edskull
Hi guys,I\'ve been playing for a while and i\'m using mechjeb, PowerSat and Satellite Relay Network Mods. I want to set up a Comms network to cover Kerbin (and the Mun in future). What i really want to do is to setup a Satellite constellation based on Teledesic\'s proposals. the parameters can be found here http://www.3csysco.com/Pubs/Architecture%20of%20the%20Teledesic%20Satellite%20System.pdf on page three, can this be done using my current mods, or even at all! Cheers, Ed
Ted
This can be done easily with MechJeb, I am not sure about the function of said satellites however.
edskull
How can I get the orbits to be separated by an angle, but at the same inclination? I\'ve looked in mechjeb and I cant find any settings, and is there any way to put the satellites on each orbit. Thanks again!

Thanks again! The only way I can think of is to do it by timing your launches - launching one ship every x minutes...

Ted
So I do that by hand?Yeah, I think you will have to. There are ways to be precise about it, using data about the rotation of Kerbin etc, but you will still have to know how long it takes to get into orbit etc. I guess you\'ll just have to practice until you have it nailed. Good luck EDIT: You could also just get all the satellites you need into an equatorial orbit and then change their inclination mid-orbit, this might be the less frustrating option. edskull
cheers guys, i\'ll keep you posted. should be pretty impressive when its done, if i can work out some of the technicalities
DonLorenzo
You can also slightly raise or lower your orbit from the desired one and wait until you\'re in the desired position, re-establish the desired orbit and release the sat.
Joshmo
I did this one by just waiting until Kerbin was in the correct position before launching. MechJeb does the rest - well most of the rest. My network is a bit different, but the principle is the same.
chrislo27
There\'s the edit the save file way. It really works if you want to EXACTLY place ships in certain parts of the Mun, Minmus and pretty much any object. To figure out the semi major axis (shown as SMA) in km, do this equation.(Perogee + Apogee + (2*Radius))/2 = SMAHereIf you want to use it in a save file, multiply your result by 1,000.Kerbin = 600kmMun = 200kmMinmus = 60kmMinmus =
TheMunRules#1
I setup 3 satellites in Kerbin Synchronous Orbit at 120 degrees from eachother using mechjeb. The timing of the launch didn\'t matter but I got each into the same orbital height (I used 150km for ease in warping) then I used mechjeb surface information to start the burn to transfer to KSO at exactly 120 degree intervals. Since I was using the same ship and mechjeb for all my maneuvers it got my satellites to be 120 degrees from each other.
