Shatter cones

I'm starting college in the mining industry, and where I am getting that training is in Sudbury, ON, and they have shatter cones there. Thought that since most people here are interested in space would be interested in seeing the shatter cones from a meteoric impact.

My great-grandfather was a coal miner. These three words being used together makes me laugh. You had to be LOADED to go to college back then (my family isn't, hasn't, and will never be rich), and as far as I understand your only training was being given the tools everybody else had and being told to do what they were doing.

I guess it depends on what you do. I imagine you want some geologists and engineers on site to think through some things, so that the people with the tools can execute whatever is cooked up. Then again, my knowledge about mining is about eight Discovery documentaries deep*, so I might be wrong there.

*Plus many years of stackology, the fitting of many things in small rooms.
