Randoms crashes

Recommended Posts

First: Hello to this awesome community!

I play KSP since a very early alpha and since it became V1 I started using mods to enhance the game.

But now the game chrashes way too often. I hope some of you guys can give me a hint what I can change, so the game will work again.

KSP: 1.04 32bit on Windows 10 64bit -> I used Win 7 before, same situation.

Problem:

KSP crashes randomly. Mostly if I try to fly a plane. No matter if the plane uses modded parts.

Sometimes the game crahes if I enter or leave the vehicle assembly buidling.

All but one mod are up to date (the toolbar mod is outdated).

I did a fresh KSP install and used ckan to install the mods after.

Mods installed:

Log:

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you! (sorry for my bad english)

Take a look at the error.log file. It will show the memory usage at the time of the crash. It seems like a memory related issue: there are some memory leaks in ksp, specially when changing scenes (such as entering/leaving the VAB), and when ksp reachs the ram usage limit it crashes. My guess is that you are playing with full textures resolution, and doing that with mods may demand a lot of ram memory. If this is the case, try lowering the texture resolution and make sure terrain scattering is disabled.

There is also a memory usage indicator mod that is quite useful.

Thanks for your answer.

You are right. I am playing with terrain scattering and full texture resolution.

I will look through the error.log file as soon I am back from work.

If I find anything memory related I will use lower settings.

Thanks!

EDIT: I found this on the beginning of the error.log:

Unity Player [version: Unity 4.6.4f1_99f88340878d]

mono.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)

in module mono.dll at 0023:1011940a.

Error occurred at 2015-09-14_182908.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\KSP.exe, run by [...].

60% memory in use.

0 MB physical memory [3209 MB free].

0 MB paging file [0 MB free].

0 MB user address space [104 MB free].

Write to location 00800000 caused an access violation.

This looks memory related (at least for me).

I lowered the texture resolution and disabled terrain scattering, and the game did not crashed after playing ~1,5 hours.

Thank you kerbanoid!

If a mod is reading this: Is there a way to mark this post as resolved?
