Post your anaglyphs

Anaglyphs are composite images made with two images of different color, where each image is taken from a slightly different position. When viewed through filters that pass only one color for each eye, we synthesize a 3D image.

Most common ones are red-cyan images and such glasses are widely available.

To make an anaglyph, set your camera to manual and take one image, then move the camera horizontally (not radially around a center spot). Image displacement for nearby objects should be similar to our eye separation. For macro photography, use less displacement (1 cm), and for distant objects and landscapes, use more (1 m or more).

It takes a steady hand, patience and knowledge to make a realistic anaglyph that doesn't cause discomfort upon viewing. Automatic anaglyph makers such as ones used in smartphone apps usually suck eggs. Nothing can replace a manual setting by a human wearing the glasses.

There is a number of programs out there for making them, and one of the best is an old one called Anamaker.

Here's one I made just now in the backyard. It's a Mimosa pudica plant (yes, the one that collapses upon touching).

So if you have some nice ones, post them here. :)
