The Me-262 Replica-ish

An Me-262 Replica which is not exactly performing the same way, but is very close. It is too heavy with too much power, but sure looks great. Has 4 nose vulcan cannons from BD Armory. It uses b9 Procedural wings, and can do up to 300 m/s as opposed to 266. It flies at higher altitude, allowing more speed. It uses tweakscale for the engines, BDArmory for guns, and B9 Pwings for wings.

Features:

-Able to go mach .9, just subsonic

-Can fly for 50 minutes!

-Lots of guns(because if moar boosters is bad, how can moar guns be?)

-Lots of ammo(5200 bullets, enough to last quite a long time shooting down k-17 squadrons!

-Looks great!

-Did I mention that it looks great?

-Fun flying, fun to turn

Have fun flying!

This craft was created by the Alpha Replica-ish Corp, a subgroup of SAP-C.This is a relatively new creation, and may be seen in the 102nd Bunting airshow along with others of its type(there are no other replicas)!

M8, have some creativity, not in the craft, in the description of it, not to be Rude but anything other than the craft in this post is boooor-ing. If you saw my Bunting 101 post, then you'd know what I'm talking about when I say you should add some little description story into this post coinciding with the 102nd Annual Bunting Annual Airshow. It's not Bunting craft only!

..It's not a must to add a story, the main point is the ship.

Nicely done, Alphasus!

Hey look! A WWII aircraft replica, and none other than the 262. :D Awesome work here!

Incidentally, I don't know much about BD Armoury, but I know the real Me 262 (at least, most variants of it) were armed with four 20mm cannons. I think the BDA Vulcan uses 20mm rounds, so you've done well.

Now do me a Gloster Meteor and do an RAF Vs. Luftwaffe jet battle!

They had 4 30 mm cannons, but i already tried 2 on an ME-163(failed) replica. Too heavy for that many. So the armament is off. And, a gloster meteor? Sure!

Ah, I was close. Man, I would love to see an Me 163 replica! If you can't do jets in KSP, do rocket-planes. :P

Well yeah, but the rockets suck through fuel. My prototype had 10 seconds of fuel...

Good point... I did do some experimenting with X-1 type rocket-planes a few days back, but it was using the 'Hydra' engine in my Backyard Rocketry mod... :sealed: It turns out I managed to make a rocket engine that is extremely effective for small rocket-planes.

Alphasus rocket planes are possible I made one with 3 minutes of burn time.

I need 8 for historical time, and a 37 m/s climb rate at 200 m/s. The heavier it gets, the more engines. The more engines, the more fuel used. The more fuel used, the more fuel needed. It's a loop.

If it helps, the real Me 163's engine provided 17kN of thrust for about seven and a half minutes, and the entire plane weighed 4.3 tons fully loaded. Ah, Wikipedia. :P
The replica would need 34 kN for 7.5 minutes at 8.6 tons, or the same twr. My pattern has been doubling thrust and weight on the planes, and tweaking for performance.

Fair enough. Meanwhile, I've just been making a scale replica myself, although I've focused on matching the looks rather than the performance. Mine is 4.4t at launch, and is about the same size as the real one, but only has fuel for a 2-minute flight. Still a lot of fun to fly, and it actually has a skid for landing. :D

This is what it looks like by the way, if you're interested:

It only gets two minutes of flight time, achieves a top level-flight speed of about 150m/s, and has a useless climb rate, but it sure is fun to fly around the KSC. :sticktongue: Gotta thank you Alphasus for the inspiration!
