Like i said, not sure what to title this:

I have a decend ammount of funds, $700-$750 from my parents (My brother got an $800 shotgun for going eagle, they said they'd get me something that i felt equal.). And i want to turn it into something more. I don't want a fancy schmancy gift i want to turn it into something i can generate an income off of (Like an app, me and my dad had an idea but dont want anyone stealing it :P ).

I was mainly inspired to do something like this from two things: Casey Neistat and his app Beme, and this article my dad found: A professor gave his students $5 and challenged them to see who could generate the most money (they were split into a few teams). the people who made the most money were the ones who didnt focus on "Okay i have $5 what can i do with that"; the students who made the most were the ones who basically said: "How can i make something, out of nothing.". For instance: the group that made the most was a group that went around making reservations at popular resturaunts and approaching people with 45+ minute wait times and sold the reservations that would take less time for about $20. No i don't have the man-power or the ability to do that, but you get the gist.

I have considered streaming, it's not worth it to me and i wont make much from that (I'm not saying i need to make a lot, just streaming will take forever and make considerably less money than a lot of other options).

Please post your ideas below, and maybe we can collaborate on something and split the income somehow. (Or message them to me, you can trust i wont take em without including you, I'm an Eagle Scout.)

EDIT: another thing on funds: Money ain't a problem. I can go earn a lot, mow 20 lawns a day if i have to (I get about $20 per lawn). So don't worry about how much any ideas would cost.

I won't take any money, nor will I collaborate, but maybe you can work on people's computers. There are stupid people everywhere, and if you're smart the stupid people will pay you money to do things for them that they aren't smart enough to do themselves. If you could pull some strings and make some visits to the bank, you could get a loan to start a small business. Just make sure you know exactly what you wanna do and be prepared to prove that you're financial responsible and that you can pay back the money. If you decide to go that route I'd suggest just a simple general store; it might not have all the glitz and glamour of app development or some technological job but it's one that you can have for the rest of your life (A general store in my town that shut down just a few years ago was open for business for 100+ years). Think about what you and a lot of other people always wished was in your town. Make it happen. Just make sure you're legal & fill out all the forms.

Or you can use the money to buy yourself a nice suit that you can wear to job interviews. A job's the best way to make money.

If you're looking to start your own business, you need to know what you're doing, and you need a market. If there is no market, you can try to create a market, but you need to know what you're doing... and you need to really keep at it - persistence. Keep in mind that, typically, a startup business operates at a loss for the first 3 years.

Best wishes to you, and good luck in your endeavor.

This is what I do in my spare time outside of my current job. Many people ive found pick up viruses or want a complete OS reinstall which is easy to do if you know how. I love doing it, treat every machine as if it was my own and have never had an unhappy customer. And for the record, word of mouth is by far the best form of advertising :) Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

If you like public speaking and translating computer geek into "real language" (don't worry, I cannot figure that one out either ), Set up a portable workshop where you can teach others the basics. I currently do that for small groups and depending if it is arranged by an organization or individual, can make between $35.00 to $150 per hour session teaching basics like email, Facebook, MS Office, PowerPoint, or even Photobucket or specific websites such as Walgreens, on how to order photos. (Yes, sadly there is a market for that :D). If you do not like working with the "seasoned" crowd (old people), then it wouldn't be the job for you.

From my experiences, if you are going to create your own business, you should:

1) focus on the natural gifts/abilities you already possess.

2) focus on something you love doing. If you hate dogs, then don't go into the dog grooming and care business. Your business will become "work" instead of getting paid to play. 3) have three man goal categories: what you want to accomplish in six months, a year, two years. It helps to know some professional goals.

Best wishes to you, from one entrepreneur to the other...

You can invest in stock market, if you want to play that game. Get some simulation software provided by some trading company to trade fake money based on real world statistics, and practice using the tools you have. You will get a feel of how the market work, and probably be able to make a profit.

Or use that to buy material and make some handicraft. Something that is innovative, artistic, and interesting will probably get people wanting to buy it if you sell it on amazon, ebay, or more likely, etsy.

Main problem with that is i can't legally get a loan. Also i'm still "growing" so I would outgrow a nice suit fairly quickly. I also can't legally get a job unless i found it myself (and if i make over $100 a year my parents have to take ownership of it).
