Ship Construction & Rovers & Docking Bays

Recommended Posts

I am working on a rover-carrying ship, and I have the rover-carrier arms, and the rovers, ended with Docking Ports.

(i dont want any accidental decoupling as I stage)

However, when I try to Merge my rover ship file with my rover-carrier, I cannot.

Now, each port (both ships) are facing out correctly, and each shows the green connector ball individually - but I cannot get them to link up.

I'd love some help getting my rovers onto the ship.

Thanks!

One thing to try is to hold down the mod key (alt if your running Windows) when placing your rover. It's especially useful when placing things in cargo bays.

Alt just duplicates parts...

However I figured it out. I took the Docking part off the rover, and double-docked the base ship and it worked out.

Thanks all!

Alt doesn't just duplicate. If you are trying to place an object onto the ship and hold alt it will 'lock' the object onto the closest node on the ship! It's actually really useful. It only duplicates parts that you click on your ship
