Deorbiting Spent Stages in Early Career Mode?

Recommended Posts

I probably will revert to the "cheat'" of simply deleting debris from the tracking station when my rockets start dumping multiple parts into LKO (I do like a bit of asparagus staging!) But I also wanted dto be able to "do it properly" to self justify that (I guess we all have our own little house rules?)

The trouble in the real world with waiting for stuff to decay naturally is, our ability to add to the Space junk much, much faster than it decays. There's been some pretty irresponsible stuff done in the past. Just like the oceans, there's a limit to how much human trash it can cope with before we start regretting it. Here endith the lesson. ;)

If the discarded debris has a periapsis anywhere below 70km, I feel completely justified in deleting it from the tracking station, rather than switching to it and applying physics over what may be many orbits to drop it to destruction.

Otherwise I use either sepratrons or a service bay/pod combo to drop the booster.

The only point I find challenging is early Mun/Minmas career missions, where if I'm not careful I end up with tanks I need to discard in a transfer orbit, which will end up as long-term junk.
