Nike Heavy Mining Rover.

Recommended Posts

A rather fresh new version of a rover I've been fiddling with for the past couple of weeks. Because this new version happens to look kinda nice, and still does almost everything the old ones did (these ones don't have ISRU processing, maybe some point later I'll make a variant with processing).

The plain rover (with no landing things) weighs in at 36.6 tons, with a part count of 202. There are two other versions; one equipped for re-entry, the other for landing on planets lacking enough atmosphere for parachutes to do the job. However after the extra stuff is decoupled, its exactly the same.

WARNING: The one equipped for re-entry has not been tested at interplanetary velocities. If the previous versions proved anything, its that the solar panels are liable to cease functioning because of re-entry at all but the slowest of speeds. So its a good idea to have a crew nearby that can quickly arrive to fix the solar panels if the need arises. I lost two test rovers on another planet because of this.

I called it a Baserunner because its design was inspired by Hardware/Homeworld: Shipbreaker's Baserunner. In the end its just a fancy name for a space monster truck.

KerbalX has all the mods right. All of the unrecognized parts are from Vens Stock Revamp. No clue why it doesn't recognize them. I'll put a modlist here anyway.

EDIT: KerbalX is under the impression I'm using Mobile Frame System. I am not. But then again I've run the part mapper easily a dozen times, but it still thinks the Oscar E tank isn't a VSR part.
