Rotary core

Hi all.

One of the parts I think nobody is working on is a core part that permits artificial gravity. A cylinder, with from 2 up to 4 docking ports or attachments where you can build arms and, at the end, the living facilities (labs, workbenches, rest etc). I tryed to do it with IR but no success.;.;

the part have to have a rotation velocity control and stop rotation on time warp. It would be nice if it was tweakscale compatible to adapt to different diameters avoiding to do one part for each one.

i'd do it if I had knowledge and time. Anybody interested?

What do you think?

Check out Spin-O-Tron motors

Of course there's the big thing, Infernal Robotics, which also has an addon IR station parts

Hi again.

Thanks for the links. I had no idea about those projects. I have tested both and neither of them worked as expected. IR station parts, adds a core and a rotating ring. I can find and attach the core to my test ship but the ring is not in the parts menu. I've searched the part in all the sections several times and it is not in the list. So I can't build anything.

The other project adds three copies of the stock docking ports with the ability to rotate. Very promising but again, I can't attach anything to them. I'm not sure if this is a VAB problem because i see this behaviour in other parts, especially in IR rotatron parts. This project is not updated to 1.0.4 so maybe, this is the problem.

Has anybody used any of this parts successfully in 1.0.4?

Thanks in advance

I found the spindle and rotating hub from the DSEV mod to work quite well in 1.0.4. You can put BZ-52 radial attachment points on the hub and then attach whatever you want to those. It does need to have Infernal Robotics installed. And if you have a lot of mass spinning when you warp time the hub might rip off of the rest of the ship when you drop back to normal time. I think the persistent rotation mod might fix that. And it looks quite cool if you put the counter-torque ring on the spindle to make there be no net torque on the ship.

It's simply perfect! just what I was looking for.

Thank you very much.

Best regards
