Starstreak low-drama SSTO trainer

If you just want a simple (15 part) craft to get a man into orbit and back for the cost of the fuel, with fuel to spare, that handles nicely, then try the Starstreak...

Making orbit is just: Take off and point it at 25° pitch until you get to the orbit Ap you want then circularize. That's pretty much all there is to it.

Coming home is easy too: Do a retro burn aiming for the KSC, hit the brakes to deploy the air brakes, when slowed close the airbrakes, then just pop the airbrakes again over the runway and it will drop onto the tarmac.
