Duplicate Game Data folder in save folder

Recommended Posts

For the sake of both back compatibility between KSP versions and allowing players to run different sets of mods in different saves, it would be nice to have the GameData folder duplicated into the save folder when a new save is created, and to have the game reference the GameData folder for the current save rather than the global GameData folder. This way, if a new version of KSP changed the characteristics of a stock part, existing saves would continue using the old part, and different saves could use different sets of mods. The potential downside to this is increasing the disk footprint of the game fairly significantly.

You basically would be filling up disk space with the same mods in many cases.

A system like Space Engineers uses would be a good way to do that.

Mods can be added to specific save games from the menu. They can then be added (or removed) from the saved games when they are loaded.

1 mod download can be used (or not used) on all saves.
