After long mission, Can't: Quicksave, Save, Goto space center, Switch to nearby craft

I have a slightly modded KSP, but this is not a mod problem as far as I know..

I rendezvoused with Jeb who was orbiting the sun in a mission gone bad with no fuel. I'm currently less then 100m from his ship now with my rescue vessel after a 1 year, 110 day mission so far.. When I hit my "[" key to switch to that vessel, the staging menu along the left, and engineer redux disappear from the screen and I kind of get a free cam view... Then when I use that key again, it goes back to my rescue ship.

When I hit F5, the Quicksave does not appear in the bottom right.

When I try to go back to the space center, nothing happens.

To get this encounter took me all evening so I hope I can get this resolved. Please let me know what I can try. I've tried an EVA and boarded with no change. I've also time warped a little bit but it did not make a difference as well....

On a side note, when I did time warp, sometimes the other ship would jump to another location, like 50 M away in another direction.. Seems strange.
