Do you think that email application from win 8/8.1 is better than that from Win10

I like Windows 10 with the exception of the new mail application, Microsoft always has some kind of unpleasant surprise Windows users, such as, for example, replacing the traditional start menu for tiles, which you might eventually get used to.

In Windows 10 has been restored traditional start menu, but the thing that really pisses me off is the new e-mail program, I wonder why we were not given the same that was Windows 8, it was one of the few components of that system, which was really cool.

In my opinion mailer with Windows 8 it was more intuitive than the current installed under Windows 10. I wonder if others have similar feelings.

Depends if you are moving around a lot :) in this case, an e-mail program can keep a copy of your mails locally so you can read them even if you don't have network coverage :)

Having worked as a telecom engineer, it was quite useful to be able to read the mails i downloaded prior to getting on a site with no internet access avaible (cause i don't have the customer's network rights) nor mobile phone network coverage (because it's a faraday cage building like datacenters can be)

Though, there's plenty of existing mail programs you can install on your computer, so maybe try some of those :)

Who uses an email program these days ?

I've been using webmail for years.

Webmail is fun for personal mail, but if you want to get serious, you quickly need more. Sharing of mailboxes and calendars and lots of other neat features are available.

I actually do feel the same and have begun to avoid it. I use webmail for personal uses and Outlook for business use.

If you already have Office, you have a license for Outlook, which is always a more functional choice than whatever "lite" e-mail program (Outlook Express / Live Mail / Mail / ?? I honestly don't know what they've all been called; they've been different every release) shipped with Windows.

If not, there are plenty of third-party clients that will do everything you want. I've only used Thunderbird, but there are many others.

What you REALLY want is to make sure your e-mail provider allows you to connect via IMAP rather than POP3, and have a client that can do the same. That way, you can have your messages on your computer, but ALSO on the server if you have to get at webmail…AND on your other computer…AND your smartphone. Unless you like having to juggle accounts for each of your devices.

Gmail does all that. In fact, my work uses it for business.

But I wouldn't expect a freebie app bundled with Windows to have advanced features, especially because they make money with Outlook. It's not like there isn't a whole lot slew of free mail readers out there to pick from anyway...
