Wow. That is nice, but for that much money its not that nice. Where's the launch gantry? And its all plastic. However it does make me want to build my own out of powder coated metal and the like one day. Might even consider the internals. Be a cool project.

Meh. This one flies:

https://www.apogeerockets.com/Rocket_Kits/Skill_Level_5_Kits/Saturn_V_1_70th_Scale?zenid=ff229aa7e1a312ce1b6c4b5dde0ea549

Not the same size (1/70 scale) but still...

Also, the Saturn V in these images here: http://precisionaerospacereplicas.com/projects.html was *supposed* to fly, but after the time and effort that went into building it, Dave decided not to fly it, and instead, it is now a display at the Smitsonian National Air and Space Museum. First stage was supposed to used gimballed motors for stability (unlike enlarged fins most model rocket versions of the Saturn V use). Second and third stages were to use clear Lexan pop-out fins, and the LES was pulled away with an Estes C motor. Tower is as detailed as the rocket, and uses a smoke generator to simulate LOX boil off. Swing arms actually swing.

Edit: Link to a PDF of an article about it in Fine Scale Modeler magazine: http://www.savethelut.org/files/9502FSM.PDF

I've been wanting to build a 1/24 scale Falcon 9 for a year or two now... That would make it about 6 inches in diameter and 9 feet tall. I could probably paint some PVC pipe or something to get the right shape but, well... kind of a big thing to make.
