Degrading Orbit on my ScanSat

Recommended Posts

Launched my first ScanSat enabled satellite into a nice 120km polar orbit above Kerbin (KSP 1.0.5)

Then noticed that my periapsis is slowly dropping, on the order of .1-.2 m/s.

Why? Is this some sort of drag from extreme upper atmosphere? Does is have to do with Kerbin's movement around the sun? Is it a unique phenomenon only suffered by polar orbits? (Never noticed this on my space station.) Is it a bug?

Any ideas?

It's a precision issue inherent to the way floating numbers in computers work. Although generally orbits below 100km are less stable. (Yes, I see you are at 120km.) If you are waiting for the mapping, time warp also makes the orbit more stable.

I'm not sure about this version, but previously any clipped parts will cause orbits to change in unexpected ways.

It's a shame. We have all these cool new editor tools to put parts where you need them to be, but I rarely use them because it can cause ships to fall from the sky..

BTW. Welcome to the Forums.
