Problem with overhaeting Mystery goo during reentry

I send Bob for some more science after unlocking Mystery Goo and accepting "science from space around Kerbin" contract.

The mystery goo started overheating during reentry so i start rolling the spacecraft while keeping pointed the capsule into retrograde. I read that once America and Russia used this technique of the reentry at beginning of space i wonder does is true?
